Clarke Quay - Singapore | Sunday, September 02, 2007

Althought i was literally in Singapore 3 times a week, i do not really get much of a time to go out and explore the place. Not as much as i would love to.
Ironically, our ship docks at Harbour Front which was literally next to Sentosa Island. And I am ashamed to even confess to this, but i have never been to Sentosa Island before.
i know i know, its sad. I know.
Next target when i visit Singapore is to spend a DAY in Sentosa. ^_^

Well anyway back to the topic, earlier this year in February before Chinese New Year, the ship i was working in was scheduled for a erm refurbishing session - we called it Dry Dock. The ship is literally off the waters and not sailing for over 10 days. During these time, we were still working onboard except there were no passengers sailing with us. We had to do the cleanings and stand by and monitor the renovations done by the construction workers and etc.

ok ok...so during these time, we actually get to go out ^_^. And the best part is, no curfew!!!
During Dry Dock, i had the best-est time ever with my mates. We went to several places such as Chinatown and the Night Safari etc. So anyway, my buddy Ah Seng brought a bunch of us to this place call " Clarke Quay " . If you notice in my Friendster, i have loads of pics taken there as well. And i mention it in one of my previous post as well.

Now how would i describe "Clarke Quay" ?

Its's kinda hard. They have a variety of selections for you to choose from whether you are there to have dinner or just drinks.

Is the place big ?

Well not really nor is it small. Moderate. Well atleast to me.

While walking and roaming around the place, you will get the feel of nostalgic and yet so modern. Its a cross.A in between. You wonder how is it possible to be in a place with such classic and tradisional deco and then right next door you have the modern and up to beat kinda place. Its fun.

My perfect way to end a day or spend the weekends would be to go to Clarke Quay. Pick a restaurant i wanna have dinner in. Eat and of coz accompanied by my friends. After dinner, go bar hopping around the place coz there so many to choose from. And "People Watch" .
You see all walks of people hanging around the place. As I would typically describe it - "Rojak"
And right before going back, you definately need to stop by at H.Dazs for a dessert.
My favourite - A scoop of Coffee + Macademian top with roasted almonds. Yummilicious!! Have it to go. Enjoy the ice cream while sitting by the river side - literally across Clarke Quay and enjoy the cool breeze and the gorgeous view. I highly recommend this - especially this little ice cream session - to be shared with someone you love - preferably other half. Isnt the place gorgoues?!!? The view .Its even more beautiful when you see if in real life. The lights. One of the many erm water features and unique designs you will see around Clarke Quay.
You will see many of these erm "Cooler" around the place. There are many. Its like something out of the "War of the World" - arh yeah that Tripod . hehe but this dont go around shooting or squashing people, it just stays where it is and blows out cool air! ^_^

These are pictures taken from the bridge leading to Clarke Quay & River Point.
My favourite spot is there - in the picture on the right, see the steps leading down towards the river ? thats where i love to just sit and enjoy the place. Have my ice cream with me and just sit there chit chatting with SOMEONE Or just sitting there, cuddling close to each other. Enjoy the view and the cool breeze. Its absolutely romantic.

But of course, if you are going there with a bunch of friends and there are "GUYS" in your group, they would definately be very happy to just hang out at this place and not ever leaving it! lol. " HOOTERS "
Seeing how we dont have it in Malaysia - Guys would definately be thrilled! ^_^
They have places such as this called "1 Nite Stand"
- Man ( ranging hormones ) + Pub/Club ( named 1 night stand) = You do the maths.
@_@
As seen clearly here, erm my male friend was definately intrigued by the erm....signage.
So i would say Guys would love it here.

Clarke Quay is definately a place you want to drop by while you were in Singapore. So many choices of restaurant or bistros you wanna have dinner in. Unique bars to hang out. My target would be to have a or several rounds of drinks in their little "Hospital Theme" bar.

You sit around on hospital like beds with those hospital bed curtains or panels whatever you called it separating you and the next bunch of people. To give your privacy. ^_^And then you have like a morgue and a operation table in the display next to it. How cool is that?!?!

I love hanging out there. Give the time and $$. I would spend days there.

A place i highly recommend to visit if you guys ever go to Singapore. Better still, bring me along with you @_@
