2007 Chinese New Year in Singapore & onboard SSV | Monday, February 04, 2008
Last year was the first time ever in my entire life i spent Chinese New Year away from my Family - away from my Home - away from Malaysia. Didnt get my reunion dinner but on the 2nd day of CNY , i did managed to meet up with my Aiya DiDi - Chin Aik in Penang. Atleast a familiar face..hahaa..
Well a few days before Chinese New Year, the ship was stationed in Sembawang,Singapore for DryDock . DryDock is when the ship needs to be refurbished and etc.
And it was also during that time, i managed to actually leave the ship and be away from the ship for more than 3 hours ~ managed to atleast explore a lil of Singapore ~ beyond just Harbour Front and Vivo City.
I know i have blogged about my Singapore Exploration before earlier on my previous entry but didnt really managed to post many pics up as i was still onboard then and a buddy of mine was kind enough to let me use the pc - Thanks again Hendrix!!
Anyway, on Chinese New Year Eve - we had a countdown onboard the ship and after that it was off to the crew bar for further entertainments!! hahaha
we were sailing then so we didnt really have any other place to go. Was suppose to have a reunion dinner with a bunch of mates onboard but we couldnt find a place as all the restaurants were fully booked ! sigh - so it was back to the Officer Mess for dinner! hehehe
Nways, just check out the picz -
Me at the centre of the junction in Chinatown. I know i look crappy as i had no make up on and well....at first i didnt feel so until Ah Seng told me i look tired and pale. Sigh ~ cant blame me!! was onboard the ship - DryDock - no A/C on......sighhh Cammy & I ~ I know i'm such a lame poser! hahahaha But atleast i have the word Chinatown and New Year Greeting in the photo. Ah Seng wasnt such a loser cameraman after all...haha
Our long awaited Spicy SteamBot in Chinatown. As you know, it was the year of the Pig last year - there were piggy decos everywhere - we were walking around and we kept seeing this Piggy Balloon thingy that many people were wearing - i just couldnt resist it! i know i look extremely silly and i cant believe it that i actually posted this pic here! hahahaha
We went to the Night Safari as well. It was ok. The show was good until the tram ride - it was dark and cool and i was super sleepy. I was very sleepy during the drydock days... Ah Seng , Cammy and Me. I miss these two people alot!!
We also went to Bugis Street but it was kinda dissapointing to me......sigh
And during Dry Dock we also managed explored Clark Quay - Well for me, TWICE!!! Me & Ah Seng
Me & BinBin Me & Cammy
A Bunch of us at a small H.Dasz stall in Clark Quay
A different group of people on different days but at the same place! I miss him alot.
Then the actual day - Countdown at the Grand Piazza onboard the ship. The show was the same as the New Year Countdown only the deco was different. There were singing and all but it was crowded, i had someone very tall to take this pic for me. - Thanks David.
The balloons released at the countdown. Gold Balloons!! Mr Colin Kerr - one of my fav Cruise Director when i was still onboard. He is currently now the Cruise Director - Fleet! Lee. One of the sweetest guy onboard. Very nice fella. sigh Ms.Shireen - my close buddy onboard. one of the very few Singaporeans that i actually like, befriended and enjoy spending time with. Miss you loads girl. This is David. The Surv.Manager onboard. A really funny guy to hang out with. That is my Shaolin Didi - Song Wei and one of the photographer onboard - he is from Mynmar - erm forgot his name...hehehe sorry A group of us right outside StarGallery - the duty free shop onboard. Thats a chef ( i forgot his name too...aiyah - a Malaysian guy and very nice too ) - Shireen, Me and Ah Seng. Thinking back, there are things back then that i missed sooo much. Like how i was stuck onboard STILL WORKING - no proper REUNION DINNER - and most importantly away from MY FAMILY. But besides all that, i guess it was an eye opener. Makes me treasure my family more. ^_^ Well this year - im spending it at HOME!!!! We will be having our reunion dinner tomorrow. Its not gonna be as crowded as it usually was. Now that my sis is a MARRIED WOMAN - she is spending her reunion dinner with her husband and his family in Muar. =(( My cousin had to go to Tokyo for a meeting so the wife and kids joined him there in Japan. =((( But atleast my god mom and cousin sis is coming over. Cant wait for the dinner!! Gonna stuff my face silly!!! |
