Road Trip | Friday, April 03, 2009

A bunch of us girls went away a couple of weeks ago before the new school term started.
It was only a weekend trip. 5 girls and a car ^_^

I suggested Malacca as I havent been there in ages. Wang Wei had planned to go there the weekend before but something came up and she didnt managed to go. And its also Shirley's hometown. So after some discussion with Shirley - we decided - Sure Why not...hehehe
so invited the others to go as well of coz.

So theres Me, Shirley ( our guide ), Veron, Cressa & Wang Wei ( whom was spending her last weekend in Msia with us coz she's leaving the company n going back to Spore )

So this trip was not just a road trip for us but also sort of a farewell for Wang Wei. Wang Wei is one of the teachers in the school im working in. She's a great teacher therefore it was sad to see her leave but at the same time happy for her coz she'll be in Spore with her fiance and she'll be happier. ^_^

Neways ; instead of me jammering on and on of what happened and how it happened and to whom it happened to...just check out the photos & captions. =)

The first batch of photos - all taken at Jonker Street. Our first stop upon arriving in Malacca. We first drop off our stuff at our rooms and stopped by Shirley's house ( which is right behind where we were staying ) so that she can dropped off her stuff too. We went to Jonker Street - we were hungry when we reach Malacca. Its dinner time and all of us hasnt eaten yet. So besides seeing the stuffs and snapping photos ( Wang Wei was really snapping ALOT ) we were scouting for food!! hahaha
We saw Malacca's Hokkien Association - the loads of goodies that were sold there , a lil like our Petaling Street but i guess a lil nicer? hehehe . We had curry mee, yakitori, mee goreng & mix grill for our dinner.

The fried carrot cake @ lo pak ko was apparently a famous one so we had Veron lining up and bought a packet for us. But then we were really tired that night, so when we got back to our room - i think all of us just had like one mouth just for the sake of trying. It was indeed a tiring night. atleast it was to/for me T_T. I was super tired coz i was the driver.....ahaha but i guess i didnt have enough sleep the night before as well....sigh

The 2nd Batch was taken during breakfast. We had a late breakfast so to speak. Around 10.30am. And of coz we had to have this - Malacca's Famous Chicken Rice Ball. We went to this restaurant nearby Shirley's house - Hiap Lip. Shirley or rather her mum has direct access to the place and actually pre-booked the Chicken Rice Ball for us in advanced. How else would we be able to still have the rice ball at the hour of the morning ?? hahaha it was good!! just too bad there weren't anymore steam chicken only the roasted chicken. i love the pork meat ball soup. yummy. But the rice was really good. So fragrant that you can just eat it like that.

After breakfast, we actually went to A Famosa. But when we got there, we just couldnt find a parking so we decide to go to the Stadthuys' s area to see if we could find a parking. And we did! it was a nice parking slot too. Right next to the parking booth and under a cooling shade. ^_^ .

We saw Aldy Hotel. Where both me and Shirley had wanted to book our rooms but it was fully booked! sigh. Anyways, we walked around and we went to look at that huge replica of the huge ship. I cant remember whats the ship all about....sigh...gettin old. darn it. We didnt go in for the tour as we didnt wanna waste our money?!?! hahaha anyway it was a super bright and hot day!!

We continued our walk to the Christ Church. Saw rows of brightly and creatively decorated tri-shaws. Would have been able to snapped more photos but those tri-shaw guys were actually kinda mean. And rude too. gosh lets not get me started on that.
But you have to agree that our group photo was cute right!!?!?!? hehehehe my favourite!!

Here, Malacca River ^_^. With this bunch of posers posing!! hahaha Cressa, Veron, Shirley & lastly at the back, Wang Wei ^_^. Check out the long line outside the restaurant. Its a Chicken Rice Ball place. The last time i came to Malacca for a holiday was ages ago. With Christine & Jesse ( then not married yet ) and Sooki. We had our chicken rice at that very restaurant. I dont recall the place being so easily accesible by cars and such a long line waiting outside for a place to sit. hehehe
Ooh the bridge across Malacca River - look closely, thats actually Wang Wei posing for me! hahaha

All through our trip and even before, Veron has been telling, reminding and bugging us about this particular shop that sells T-Shirt with Orang Utan as the trademark. And how she has to go and buy a T-Shirt or we will never hear the end of it. So naturally we had no choice but to go right ? It was one of the coolest shop around. The OrangUtan House. All the T-Shirts had printed designs of art work done by this talented Artist - Charles Cham. I really like the designs alot. And the T-Shirts were only selling for RM30 each. And if you buy 10 pieces - free one. So of coz Veron got hers. Wang Wei bought a few and yes so did i!! hehehe
There is a actually two shops at Jonker Street - Two OrangUtan House. The first one we saw was closed, so we went to the one situated right at Jonker Street. ( the first was at Lorong Hang Jebat ). When we were busy choosing our T-Shirt, the sales assistant there was really nice and helpful. He told us that the Artist - Charles Cham is actually around at the shop today as one of the staff was on leave. Thats when we decided that we will just have to go to that shop. And then we also remembered that Veron had originally planned to snapped a photo with the OrangUtan Wall.....hahahaha just as well. So we met up with the Artist - Charles Cham. Good Looking guy eh?? ^_^. His photos in his articles and in his shop really dont do him justice. He is better looking in real life and very very nice. Well he did entertained us..hahahaha
And yes this was a photo-op session!! Especially for Veron. She was really happy after that. On Cloud 9 some would say. T_T

After the walking and buying stuff under that hot glaring sun - what better way to cool it down if not with cendol!!! So to Tan Kim Hock we went!! and Cendols we all ordered!!!! Cendol Durians!! Cendol Coconut!! Cendol Cempadak!! We had all 3!! Veron n Shirley actually loved the Durian...im a durian fan but for this - both Wang Wei and I actually prefered the Coconut!!

After that, our adventure was followed by a short stopped for Nyonya food. We werent actually hungry but this was a sort of food trip...so whats a Malacca trip without having some sort of Nyonya food!!?!?! Shirley brought us here, another place nearby her house. We didnt ordered alot of stuff just some for us to share share. Nyonya Laksa. Ciham Char Kuey Teow. And Lontong. Some of us has never had Lontong before. We ordered 3 glasses of jasmine tea. Our meal cost us Rm9.90. It was SOOOOOO CHEEAAPPP!! and you know what, the food was absolutely heavenly!! A Definate stop for me that next time i come visiting again...hehehehe i love it!!

So after the long day, we popped on over to Shirleys house to rest for awhile before dinner. It was all a lil rush rush coz we had to drive back to KL that night itself. Short over night trip. Veron and Cressa has to go back to the school on Monday morning and Wang Wei has her bus to catch. Well, we hang around Shirley's house and chit chat with her mum..hehe Shirley's mum is so nice and cool..hehehe

We planned for Satay Celup for dinner. I insisted on that coz i have heard and read so much about it so i have to had it. We had wanted to have our dinner here at Restaurant Capitol. But can you just check out the line outside?!?!?! it was only 6 something i think. ppl were already waiting outside?!??!?! that popular!! So Shirley's mum suggested another place. Somewhere new.

So we ended up here. McQuek's Sate Celup . Not only were the place clean. the selection was wide too. I was contented coz finally I had my long awaited Satay Celup!!! hahaha i was happy.
This was definately an unforgettable trip. And trust me, it was. Not just because we had so much food!! but so was the journey there. our erm guide and definately the company. we sure were a bunch of happy -go-lucky gals!! So many other lil things happened during our trip. It was soooo...funny!!! hahahahahaha
Cant wait to go on another road trip man........im planning for another....soon i hope. And Penang will be our destination!!!
